Shifter God is first book in the three part Monsters After Dark series by Meg Xuemei X. It is a fantasy, paranormal romance. Please check trigger warnings before reading.

Pip has no recollection of who she is or why she’s being hunted by mages and vampires. After escaping from a group of mages, she lays down to rest and when she wakes is surrounded by a group of shifters. One of whom is her fated mate Jared, the Alpha Heir. Jared wants nothing to do with her and no one to know they are mates. She’s brought to the shifter academy to learn the rules of the shifter community. There Pip makes a couple friends, a ton of enemies and has to deal with her mate being with someone else.

I love a crazy FMC. Pip is constantly running her mouth. It is completely out of pocket and hilarious. She’s so strong and confident. Her psuedo love interest, fated mate Alpha Heir Jared sucks. I admit he had me in the second half. I wanted to believe he was redeemable but no. I hope she kicks his ass before the series is over. I can’t wait to read the other two books. There isn’t much spice but the drama and plot totally make up for it. Definitely recommend.
