Review | The Burnt Heart

by Mae Pierce

Genre: Dark Romance, Reverse Harem/Why choose, Contemporary, Suspense

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Spice: 🌶️(Nothing until 95%)

The Burnt Heart by Mae Pierce is a standalone, dark, reverse harem/why choose, contemporary, suspense romance. As always please check trigger warnings before reading.

Adelaide Orazio is one tough chick. As the heir to the Orazio crime family she has to constantly watch her back and run her family’s empire while keeping off the new police chiefs radar. She tries to keep one thing separate from her life in crime, her relationship with Jesse, Logan, and Briar. After being together for six years she’s expecting a proposal but is surprised when they actually break up with her. Now Adelaide is determined to navigate her dangerous life without them, no matter how much they regret their decision. A new threat is trying to make a claim in her city and she won’t back down.

When I was recommended this book I was very intrigued. “A whole book of groveling” is how it was described. After too many books with barely one chapter before the FMC forgives her love interest I wanted this to be epic. It was. Jesse, Logan and Briar are so different individually but their love for Adelaide is undeniable. I loved the continued begging and shows of effort to get her back. I would recommend this for dark romance and slow burn readers.
