Corrupted Chaos is book 3 in the Tarnished Empire Series by Shain Rose. It’s a Dark Mafia, Enemies to Lovers, Forced Proximity Romance. It can be read as a standalone.

I dived into this book without knowing that it was part of a series, though they all can be read standalones. I think I would’ve understood more of the background if I had read the others first.

So Izzy is pretty good hacker who works for the government until Cade, her boss, steps in and reassigns her. She hates Cade, Cade is secretly infatuated with her, sexual tension abounds. Izzy tries really hard to keep away from Cade but he forces the issue at a company retreat where they have to share a room and a bed.

I really connected to Izzy and her struggle with addiction. Her burying her emotions, being a workaholic zombie, so she doesn’t slip up as her authentic self, was so on point for a lot people in recovery. Cade. I cannot with this man. He was so hot and dominating and then ice cold. It gave stereotypical hot nerdy guy who has no social skills vibes, at times. I do think he brought out the best in Izzy. Their chemistry was insane.
